Sarah Olson serves as the Kirkland Public Works Deputy Director of Engineering, Planning and Development Services. In this role, Sarah supports developing a safer transportation system, resilient and healthy surface water management, advancing policies to strengthen utilities, and fostering safe private development to support Kirkland’s growth and sustainability goals. She oversees coordination with the I-405 Improvement projects, NPDES Permit compliance, and implementation of the Transportation and Surface Water Strategic Plans. With more than 25 years in public service, Sarah prioritizes community engagement and environmental resilience, ensuring our public spaces and services meet the evolving needs of a vibrant community. Sarah holds a Masters in Public Administration and enjoys walking, urban hiking, and family bike rides. |

Spreading Jane Goddall's Message

John Crocker, MD, is a retired family physician after thirty-five years of practice in Seattle, Washington. He was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and attended Stanford University where he met Dr. Jane Goodall. He received his MD from Case Western School of Medicine in Cleveland.
Dr. Crocker is a popular speaker at high schools, colleges and universities, and other educational venues on primate behavior and has written for the Huffington Post about lessons learned from our closest living relatives. He published Following Fifi (Pegasus) with forward by Jane Goodall in 2018. The book describes his eight months of work as a student with Dr. Goodall studying wild chimpanzees at her study site in Tanzania, East Africa. He has served as the ship physician on Semester at Sea, served as volunteer island doctor for the island of Barbuda in the Caribbean and was medical chief of the Northgate Group Heath Medical Center, serving 30,000 patients in Seattle.
He and his wife raised two boys and lives in Seattle

The Catering Company has been engaged for the event and the menu is similar to last year. The fee is $50. Similar to prior years, Rotarians are invited to bring side dishes and refreshments, although some will be provided (see below). Please coordinate those items through the club service chair. Registration for the dinner is through the ClubRunner events system, and the deadline to register is noon on August 12, 2026. Please note that registration is limited to 40 attendees. |
