This last Tuesday, nine Kirkland Rotarians put on their Rotarian work shirts and got busy at Hopelink. Our job was to empty out huge boxes (like the one Dave Aubry is standing next to) and sort the food by type. In addition, we had to check the expiration dates on each item and deal with it based on the instructions we were given. At the end of our two hour shift, we had sorted 1,408 pounds of food. Once the work was complete, we headed over to Olive Garden for a great lunch together. However, with the majority of the members in there sixties or higher, poor young Manny Tetteh had to listen to everyone’s aches and pains — thank goodness he is in the medical field. There are more food-related projects coming up in the months ahead. Helping people suffering from food insecurity is a high priority for our club.
