The Rotary Club of Kirkland held a regular meeting Monday, February 2, 2026 at Prosecco Restaurant and Pizzeria in Kirkland. Club President-Elect Jocelyn Reiter Ellison acted as presiding officer for the meeting.
Jocelyn rang the bell at 6:20, after which Joanne Primavera led us in the 4-Way Test. Joanne had earlier passed out playing cards with the 4-Way Test on the back. David Aubry had the joker which he successfully asserted was the high card. He received a new Rotary Pin as his reward. Isabelle Kalisa sold the tickets for the drawing.

President-Elect Jocelyn announced that President Kate has resigned as President and as club member due to health issues and a pending relocation out of the area. Rick Walter has graciously agreed to preside at most meetings going forward for the remainder of Kate’s term. Next Monday we will have a combination club social and going-away party for Kate at Daniel’s house.
Rick Ostrander did a round of Happy Dollars. There were many happy Rotarians, including our speaker for the evening, District Governor Jeff Boreck. Rick Walter participated in Happy Dollars on Zoom from 80-degree Arizona.

Daniel introduced Student of the Month, Kate Dubrouillet, a Junior at Lake Washington High School. She has an incredible resume, which makes me wonder what the heck I have accomplished in a much longer period. She participates in scholastic debate, works at Emerald Heights Retirement Home, plays golf, and recently made the varsity team. She very much enjoys talking to residents at Emerald Heights during her work shift, and has heard many fascinating stories. Daniel presented her with a certificate from the Rotary Club of Kirkland. Afterwards, we applauded Daniel for all his work in choosing Ms. Dubrouillet, and for sustaining a very successful Student of the Month program.
John Storbeck introduced our speaker for the evening, District Governor, Jeff Borek. A detailed Rotary-oriented biography and resume was in Angela Pritchett’s email reminding us of tonight’s meeting. Mr. Borek gave us an update, including his favorite ice cream - the 1970’s version of Baskin-Robbins Rum Raisin.
