The Rotary Club of Kirkland held a meeting on May 16, 2022 at the QFC in Park Place, Kirkland.

President Dave DeBois called the club meeting to order at 5 p.m.

The meeting was intended to be an event on Lake Washington, with the attendees enjoying a cruise on Duffy’s Electric Boats out of Marina Park.  However, a forecast of high winds caused the boat company to cancel this outing in favor of a later date with better weather.

Attending were Pete Anderson, Bob Auslander, Rich Bergdahl, Dave DeBois, Margie Glenn, Mike Hunter, Jim Meniketti, Jim Nevers, Kristin Olson, Rick Ostrander, Joanne Primavera, Steve Shinstrom, Patti Smith, and Brian Tucker.

Welcome one new and four prospective members to the Rotary Club of Kirkland!  Doug Evanson has completed the membership process and is now a new member.  Rashmi Garimella, Kiavash Maadanian, Lyndsey Tews have formally applied for membership in the club, and are engaged in the getting-to-know us stage by attending club meetings and meeting Rotarians.

 

Three elementary staff members will be recognized by the Rotary Club of Kirkland as Outstanding Educators for 2022. Amy Dennehy is a remarkable kindergarten teacher at Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School. Heidi Jones is a truly altruistic first grade teacher at Franklin Elementary School. And Cindy Blair is a resource for families and staff as a school psychologist at Peter Kirk Elementary School. Meet these wonderful educators and their principals on Monday, June 13, when the club holds its annual recognition ceremony for outstanding educators. The club’s board of directors will meet on Thursday, May 19, at 5:30 p.m., using the Zoom platform. Highlights will include discussions about the 2022-2023 budget and annual dues, approval of new and honorary members, and completion of the 2022-2023 board. The board meeting schedule is published in the club's Calendar, including an individual Zoom link for each meeting. Rotarians may view last month’s board meeting minutes and those of prior meetings on the Board Minutes page, which requires a log-in. A link also may be found at the bottom of the Spokesman.
