Three elementary staff members will be recognized as Outstanding Educators for 2022 by the Rotary Club of Kirkland on Monday, June 13. Amy Dennehy is a remarkable kindergarten teacher at Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School. Heidi Jones is a truly altruistic first grade teacher at Franklin Elementary School. And Cindy Blair is a resource for families and staff as a school psychologist at Peter Kirk Elementary School. Meet these wonderful educators and their principals , when the club holds its annual recognition ceremony for outstanding educators. Read more about these remarkable educators on the website's Outstanding Educator Awards pages.
At the June 13 club meeting, Rotarians will receive Duck Dash ticket packets. Each Rotarian is responsible for $500 worth of ticket sales to support the club's community service programs, such as scholarships, Reading Buddies, Outstanding Educator Awards, holiday gifts, warm coats, and more. There are three options for supporting the annual fund raiser:
Accept your packet of tickets at the June 13, 2022 club meeting, sell the tickets, either on your own or as part of one of the downtown Kirkland sales venues (e.g., QFC, Wednesday Market, Summerfest booth), and return the sales to the club.
Accept your packet of tickets at the June 13, 2022 club meeting, pay for the tickets that evening, and give away the tickets to whomever you choose.
Click on the link above right to donate $500 in lieu of selling tickets.
If you choose to donate $500 in lieu of receiving tickets, please do so by this coming Friday, June10, so that our committee does not assemble a ticket packet for you for the June 13 club meeting.
Current president-elect of the Rotary Club of Kirkland, Amy Mutal, announced a proposed slate of officers and board members for the 2022-2023 Rotary year, during which she is slated to be the club's president. Rotarians' dues statement for the new Rotary year should be published no later than July 1, and are due by July 31. The club held four meetings during May 2022. All of the meetings were held at the Courtyard by Marriott, and all but one included a Zoom option. Overall club attendance for the month was 37%, essentially the same as April, but lower than the preceding three months. January through March attendance of ranged from 40 to 43%.
Club members' readership of the bulletin, The Spokesman, in May built steadily over the last edition in April. Then, similar to April, readership dipped during the last week of the month. Readership rates ranged from 57% to 71%. A bulletin is "read" when the email containing it is opened by the recipient. For all of May the bulletin reached a 100% delivery rate, meaning it was not rejected by any member's email service.
The club’s outgoing and incoming boards of directors plan to meet jointly on Thursday, June 16, at 5:30 p.m., at the RE/MAX Integrity | Northwest office in Kirkland. Highlights will include discussions about the 2022-2023 budget and club and community service programs for the 2022-2023 Rotary year.
