The Rotary Club of Kirkland held its regular weekly meeting online on June 29, 2020.  It is our annual Club Assembly meeting where the Club Committees Chairs outline some of their plans for the coming year.

 

The meeting began about 6:18 p.m., as arranged by James Nevers, using his Zoom account. As usual, we waited a few minutes before starting, to give everyone a chance to ‘arrive’.

 

Attending were James Nevers, Dave Aubry, Margie Glenn, Gary Cohn, Dan Bartel, Joanne Primavera, Kristin Olson, Rick Ostrander, Rich Bergdahl, Patti Smith, Rick Walter, Don Dicks, Amy Mutal, Jim Meniketti,John Woodbery, Bella Chaffey, Monica Fratita, Scott Becker, Terry Cole, Ambareen Jaddi, George Anderson, Tricia & Russ Stromberg, Stefan Landvogt [all the way from Germany!!], Steve Shinstrom, and Dave Debois.  Let me know if I missed anyone.

Club Service co-chairs Bella Chaffey and Joe Getzendanner have designed a questionnaire aimed at helping the club boost involvement.  Bella and Joe ask that each club member please take a few moments to complete and submit the questionnaire in the next couple of weeks.

 

Rotarians' dues statement for the new Rotary year were published on July 1.  Our club implemented the online dues and billing module that is built into our ClubRunner system.  That means our dues statements were produced by the ClubRunner system and sent to members’ preferred email on file in ClubRunner.  As of July 8, 14 of the club’s 53 active members have paid.

 

The first meeting of the new Programs and Speakers Committee met this week and generated a list of topics for monthly program themes.  Monthly program themes are a strategy the committee is developing to make topic planning more efficient, bring more focus to speaker topics, and facilitate promoting club and community service through social media.  Rotarians are invited to review and comment on the initial list of monthly themes generated through committee discussion, and listed here in alphabetic order.

 

President James polled the Rotary Club of Kirkland membership to determine on which committees club members would like to serve, and how the club might improve its meetings.  As of July 7, 20 of 53 active members responded.  What follows is the interest expressed in various committees as listed in the survey options.
