Join the Club Social on TUESDAY, October 14
Usually the Rotary Club of Kirkland will hold its club social on the second Monday of the month. This month the second Monday is Indigenous People's Day, so the club will not be gathering on that day. However, Rotarians and guests are invited to an informal social gathering the following day, Tuesday, October 14 at the Moss Bay Beer Hall, 111 Central Way in downtown Kirkland. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know fellow Rotarians and prospective members. Please invite people who are interested in learning more about Rotary. This is a great time for prospective members to ask questions and meet club members in an informal setting.

Rotary Lends a Hand to Hopelink

Last August, nine Kirkland Rotarians put on their Rotarian work shirts and got busy at Hopelink. Their job was to empty out huge boxes (like the one Dave Aubry is standing next to) and sort the food by type. In addition, the volunteers had to check the expiration dates on each item and deal with it based on the instructions Hopelink provided. At the end of the two hour shift, the Rotarians had sorted 1,408 pounds of food. Once the work was complete, the crew headed over to Olive Garden for a great lunch together. However, with the majority of the members in there sixties or higher, poor young Manny Tetteh had to listen to everyone’s aches and pains — thank goodness he is in the medical field. There are more food-related projects coming up in the months ahead. Helping people suffering from food insecurity is a high priority for the Rotary Club of Kirkland.
