The Rotary Club of Kirkland held a meeting on October 10, 2022 at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel.

Kristin Olson rang the bell at 6:15 p.m., calling the club meeting to order. President Amy Mutal was absent due to a positive COVID test.

Joanne Primavera led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Attending were George Anderson, David Aubry, Doug Evanson, Margie Glenn, Jim Meniketti, Kristin Olson, Rick Ostrander, Joanne Primavera, John Pruitt, and John Storbeck.

Sign up for Pumpkins in the Park
The Rotary Club of Kirkland will operate a booth at the city of Kirkland's Pumpkins in the Park event on Saturday, October 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with contests and prizes and club members will be dressed up in costumes. There will be treats for kids and prizes for the grown-ups as well. Student of the Month Selections Underway
Last night was the extended deadline for applications to the 2022-2023 Rotary Club of Kirkland Student of the Month program. Eighteen students from Emerson, Juanita, and Lake Washington high schools began the application process. Eleven students completed by submitting applications by midnight last night; five students from Emerson, and three each from Juanita and Lake Washington high schools. The vocational service committee interview teams are expected to begin interviewing students next week; Kristen Olson, Patti Smith, and Rick Walter at JHS; Brandon Honcoop, James Nevers, and John Pruitt at LWHS. Might you like to join the Emerson interview team? Interviews are scheduled Oct. 18, from 9 - 11:30 a.m. in the office. Volunteer for the EHS interview team by contacting Gary Cohn as soon as possible.
Jefferson House Bratwurst & Beer Invite
 
Jefferson House Memory Care Director of Community Relations Olivia Koelsch extends an invitation to Rotarians to a fun fall event on October 28, 2022 from Noon to 3:00 p.m. Jefferson House is hosting a “Bratwurst and Beer!” open house style event to include tours of Jefferson House as well. If you would like to join the fun, please RSVP by emailing Olivia at jeffersonhouseDCR@koelschsenior.com or calling 425-492-0944. Jefferson House has long supported a membership in the Rotary Club of Kirkland, and is extending this invitation to Rotarians (and a loved one you might like to accompany you) to rekindle the warm relationship of the past several years. Membership chair Rick Walter arranged this event for Rotarians with the Jefferson House staff.

The Rotary Club of Kirkland sent a magnificent delegation to the October 7, 2022 District 5030 Rotary International Foundation Dinner at Doubletree Hotel at SeaTac.  John and Chris Storbeck, Bob Auslander and Margie Glenn, and Joanne Primavera attended the dinner, and were delighted to have the opportunity to enjoy the presence of Rotary International Foundation President Jennifer Jones, a good number of presentations and speeches, and a lovely dinner.  Thanks to this wonderful party for representing the senior Kirkland club so splendidly. 
Over Eighty Percent of Membership Paid
Rotary dues payments were due by Sunday, July 31, 2022. As of October 10, 14% of 36 active club members have not yet paid dues; five members' accounts remain outstanding. Another set of statements was sent on October 1 to club members with outstanding balances. Dues may be paid using the online Dues & Billing System links in the statements emailed to club members. The link is embedded in the bold words "Pay Now" in the body of the document. Online payment does require a credit or debit card. Members may also pay by check through the U.S. Mail.
