The Rotary Club of Kirkland held a meeting on June 13, 2022 at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel.
President Dave DeBois rang the bell at 6:16 p.m., calling the club meeting to order.
John Pruitt led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Just click on the calendar item, then click the GOLD BOX under the heading "ONLINE REGISTRATION", then click on the "+ Sign Up" button. You must be logged in to register. Tickets are available at Banner Bank, and the sales table and supplies are available at Shinstrom & Norman. There are fewer sales days and venues this year, so we need to make each one count.

Jacob Deleon is a senior at Juanita High School. His accomplishments include maintaining a weighted GPA of 4.14, taking nearly 20 advanced and Advanced Placement courses, and being a member of Key Club. Carrying the legacy of his Spanish and Greek ancestry, researchers, and engineers on both sides of his family, Jacob is a lifelong academic with a desire to never stop learning. A former boy scout and 12 years of team sports have taught him how to be the best version of himself. Jacob's hobbies include tutoring, volunteering, photography, playing soccer, and building computers. He plans to earn a bachelor's degree in science at San Diego State University and to get accepted to a great medical school like University of Washington, where he can further his studies toward a Ph.D. He says he is uncertain if he will go into research or a medical residency. Either way, he plans to continue to help people as best he can. Jacob was awarded a $2,500 Kirkland Rotary Scholarship..
Sydney Kraabel is a senior at Lake Washington High School. People tend to say that she is a driven, determined, and compassionate individual. Sydney says that she has confidently and successfully found the balance between athletics and academics as well as serving her community. Along the way, she earned a 4.2 cumulative GPA while taking five Advanced Placement classes, and competing in varsity soccer and high-level alpine racing. Through her high school involvement in many clubs such as Beta, Honor Society, Link Crew, Loyalty, and DECA, she has learned to give back to her community in order to make a change. Also, by being involved in organizations such as Water1st International, she reports having found a cause and passion she hopes to explore for a career. As a Rotary Scholarship scholarship awardee, she hopes to put the money toward studying Environmental Design in an undergraduate program and Interior Design in a graduate program. And she hopes to continue her grandfather's legacy in Rotary by getting involved with the wonderful and generous organization with a chapter near wherever she settles. Sydney was awarded a $2,500 Kirkland Rotary Scholarship.
The club’s outgoing and incoming boards of directors plan to meet jointly on Thursday, June 16, at 5:30 p.m., at the RE/MAX Integrity | Northwest office in Kirkland. Highlights will include discussions about the 2022-2023 budget and club and community service programs for the 2022-2023 Rotary year. The board meeting schedule is published in the club's Calendar, including an individual Zoom link for each meeting.
