The Club met at the new Hospital extension at Evergreen medical center for a meal and tour.  The meeting started at 6:30 PM by President Steve Brown who seemed well within his home element.  No excessive plugging of Evergreen was noticed by this observer.  The flag salute was led  by Jim Feek and the new surroundings were inspiration enough for the evening without a poem or word for the day or a lifetime. A plethora of guests descended upon us to the shared joy of everyone.  The list included, until I ran out of ink :  Kathy Feek, Grant Feek,  Patti Marsh, Kirkland Rotarian Emeritus Dr. Ernie McKibbon, past medical director and son of the first ever medical director of Evergreen Medical Center, Peggy Ostrander, Gayle Auslander , Ingrid Bruner, Wilma Bartell, Judy Boruck, Trish McAfee, Jack and Ben Kehrli, Anna Aubrey, Sandy Taylor, Carolyn Norman and the daughter and son in law of Ev Cox.  If  visiting Rotarians found their way to this meeting site, I sure missed them.

Announcements included the reminder that the District Conference will be April 20-22 in Coure de Laine, the Club Board meeting this Wednesday at 5:00PM at Evergreen and Mike Hunter announced his scholarship debriefing meeting somewhere on April 14th.  Finally, last but not least, a reminder for the Foundation Auction this coming Saturday, April 14th at the Kirkland Women's Club.  Earliest arrivals at 5:00PM to set up but 5:30 or 6:00Pm is better with drinks and meals provided by the Club. All of your $10.00 admission fee per person is a tax deductible donation for 2007 one day before returns are due for 2006.

Program:  Did you ever want to get in on the ground floor of a new project?  This was your last chance to see the unfinished floors of the new and magnificent extension of Evergreen Medical Center. The latest technology was on display including one section with little colored ping pong balls above the doors of each room to tell you something that escaped this reporter.  There was a description of cleaning germs before the patients get there that was scary.  Our tours were ably led by Chuck Davis, Director of Facilities (he's in charge of how it all works, Steve is just the one who gets to boss the Doctors around, you know, the  people guy); and Debi Brown, the Director of Medical Surgical Services (you know, she's the only one whose really knows what happened to you while they had you under the needle or is it gas, or both?)

All I know is this observer has a new perspective on the way a labyrinth works.  You start in one end of this maze, following the little bouncing or popping ball from Tan to Blue to Red and somehow, miraculously, you find your way out again just in time to rush home in time to watch 24 and see if  Jack Bauer gets blown up, gassed or sent off to China or somewhere.  All kidding aside, it was a great tour and deserving of your votes and hospital stays, if you ever need one.

The meeting was declared by me ended at 8:00PM
