The Kirkland Rotary Club meeting of February 1, 2010 began at 6:30   p.m. and was led by President, Jim Feek.

Sarah Brooks greeted everyone.  Chief Olsen led the Pledge.

Inspiration:  Pat Dye read from Rotary's Century of Service.  Even through tough times, Rotarians never give up serving others.

Visiting Rotarians :  Leigh Reddy is the District Disaster Coordinator.  He indicated that if people would like to donate through Rotary International, they can logon to the RI website and look for Vision2 for three funds for disaster relief.

Guests :  Jackson Feltz, Lake Washington Student of the Month for February

Elizabeth Sadler , Lake Washington Student of the Month for January gave her thanks for being selected as Student of the Month.

Evan Kirkpatrick was Elizabeth Rusnak's guest.  His grandfather was a Rotarian.

Induction:     Terry Cole , a former Redmond Rouser, was inducted.  Bill Woods is Terry's sponsor and Don Dicks is his mentor.  Terry was a president of the Rousers twice.  He is a Senior Financial Planner

Announcements :  Sarah Brooks announced that the Duck Race is on track.  The kick-off will be at the Wilde Rover on May 3.

Classification Talks:  Sarah Brooks is a jewelry rep for Lois Hill and gets to schmooze with customers at Nordstroms.  She wants to expand her territory because she loves her job so much.  Sarah has 19 years of sobriety.  She continues working in AA because someone was there for her when she started and she wants to help others.  Sarah loves Rotary and knew the very first time she came to a meeting that she wanted to belong.

Shirley Van Nostrand has two jobs.  She works for Dignity Memorial and pre-plans funerals.  She said it is so helpful to survivors if they don't have to plan the details of the funeral when their loved one dies.  She also works for Puget Sound Health Partners selling Medicare Advantage Insurance.

Program :  Chuck Brockway found two 'seasoned' members who gave reclassification talks.

Brad Green is a third generation Rotarian and CEO of Conover Diversified Financial Services in Kirkland, in Yakima, and other parts of Eastern Washington.  Brad wrestled when he went to Arizona State and their team was national champions.  He met his wife, Jill at Arizona State.  They have two children who are growing up fast and are very active.  Brad is very appreciated for his finding others to donate to the Duck Dash.

Brandon Honcoop works for a Canadian firm, RBC, Wealth Management.  Brandon's passions include his wife, Becca, his church, cooking, wine making and drinking, Rotary, and skiing.  Since Brandon had both rotator cuffs repaired, he is really enjoying skiing.  Brandon teaches ski instructors at Crystal Mountain.  Brandon will be Kirkland Rotary President in 2012-13.

Alice Volpe purchased the lucky ticket for the honeypot and didn't win.

Jim Feek again read one of his Swedish jokes.  The joke was not beneficial to all nor did it build good will and better friendships.  He was asked not to read another.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 P.M.,
