Rotary of Kirkland collectively celebrated Valentine's Day. The romantic mood was unmistakenly set by Vernell Sutherland and her happy helpers with roses, balloons and teddy bears at every table. Jack Bloodworth further layered the feeling by strumming beautiful tunes like " Hotel California" on his guitar throughout the pre-meeting time.

The meeting was brought to order and Sinclair Jones lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

To inspire us, Bill Taylor shared this Valentine Poem:

Will you be my Valentine?
I know that I am yours.
You are like a tossing sea
And I am like your shores.

You are like an endless wave
And I your waiting sand.
And I will wait forever as
You come and smooth my hand.

I will wait forever, yet
You are a part of me.
I hold you in my arms, while you
Come to me endlessly.

Will you be my Valentine?
I know that I am yours.
I love you with a love that yearns
To be your golden shores.

We had numerous guests this evening. Many spouses and significant others were there along with some adult children and one precious little granddaughter (Dennis Newell's little Grace).

After introductions, business was attended to first. Michelle introduced our student of the month, Adam McGrath. He shared how valuable his attendance at Rotary and the involvement with Rotarians has been to his life. After not having much confidence in his future, he shared he now has hopes of college and starting an online business.

Mike Hunter needs Rotarians to sign up for interviewing our scholarship candidates. The interviews will be  Feb 27, 28 and March 1 at 8:30, 10:00 and 2:30.

Vernell gifted the teddy bears at each table to the couple that had an anniversary closet to Feb 14th. Everyone was to take a rose and balloons.

Then, some talented Rotarian singers - The Kirkland Crooners - began to entertain us. They were Dennis Newell, Jim Feek, Patty Sims, Don Dicks, Bob Webb with Patty Marsh on the piano. Wonderful love songs were shared like:

I'm in the Mood for Love

Moon River

Night & Day

My Funny Valentine

I Only Have Eyes For You

There was lots of laughs when the four men pulled President Steve to the front, put a wig and "clothing" on him andsang "We Ain't Got Dames"

They ended with telling us to keep a song in our heart>

GG won the ticket drawing but did not the blue marble.

President Steve ended with this puzzle: "Why is that people put in their two cents but a penny is all you get for your thoughts.where is the other penny????"
