Rotary Minutes for February 8, 2010  The meeting was called to order by President, Jim Feek at 6:35 p.m.  The flag salute was lead by Chief Eric Olsen.  The Inspirational Moment was given by President Jim:  "leave a little extra for the person serving you".

Introduction of Visiting Guests and Visiting Rotarians:  too numerous to list (many spouses of members and many important people from the community).  A special welcome back to Brett Johnson after a long absence (you have been missed) and to Jackson Phillips, Student of the Month.

President Jim then turned the podium over to Patti Smith.  Patti announced the speaker for the night would not be Pat Swenson, as published in the Club Runner.   Instead, the program would be a special Roast and Toast of our distinguished member, Steve Brown.   As you all know, Steve will be leaving our Club (and the area) at the end of the month.  In order to surprise him, a conspiracy was necessary.

The Speakers for the evening (honoring and skewering Steve):

Jim Feek; Penny Sweet representing Joan McBride the Mayor of Kirkland who was unable to attend; Jane Hague representing the County and District; Ben Yendacuda (hope I got that right) past Evergreen Hospital Vice President; Dave Aubry listing the ten possible "real reasons" Steve was leaving the area; Doug Wozeniak, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club; DaveRamsey, representing the past City Council; G.G. Getz representing the Kirkland Performance Center; Bill Vadino, representing Kirkland Chamber of Commerce; Walter Yeager representing Cascadia Foundation; Pat Dye representing fellow Kirkland Rotarians.  They all had wonderful stories to tell about Steve and a few "skewers" to relate.

The entire evening was taped and recorded by Dave DeBois .  If you missed this evening's performances, please contact Dave for a copy of the CD or if you wish to give Steve a "good-bye" message.  Dave can be reached at:  ddebois@bannerbank.com

We will miss you Steve.

Scribe for the evening:   Pat Swenson
