It is Rotary Night at the Everett Aquasox on July 9.  Game and all-you-can-eat BBQ for $20, or game-only for $9.

Chuck Brockway announced the next Miracle League game this Saturday at Perrigo Park - he needs volunteers.  Just show up at the Park at 9:30.  The games take about an hour to an hour-and-a-half.

Bob Auslander announced a wine tasting at his house May 27.  It is organized by the Cascade Boat group, but others can come.

Don Dicks announced Green Kirkland sign-ups to gauge interest in Rotarians assisting Kirkland Parks Department in a project.

Bill Woods announced that May 22 is the annual Kirkland Downtown cleanup.  Come have a light breakfast before and a BBQ at the Grape Choice afterwards.  Show up near the corner of Park Lane and Lake Street.  [Note to all - you will have to do a little work, at least, between meals.]

Program:

Eric Olson, KPD Chief, introduced the program - the KPD K-9 unit.  He said that the officers would demonstrate the dog's effectiveness at handling bad guys, and finding drugs.  For some reason Pat Swenson immediately departed for the ladies' room!?!  Officer Twombley, handling Max the canine member of the team, discussed the difference between a dog's sense of smell and a human's.  Both the officer and the dog undergo almost continual training.  The dog is primarily used to track suspects, find drugs, and find lost people.

President Jim read a thank-you note from Ingrid Bruner, regarding the flowers for her , and the condolences on the loss of her brother.

Next week our speaker will be Dan Satterberg, King County Prosecutor.

Alice Volpe had the winning ticket and gave to Quinn, who won the pot.

President Jim closed the meeting at 7:40 with a somewhat funny (!!) Norwegian joke.

Proposed New Member!!!.    Joanne Burns has been approved by the board.

Respectfully submitted,

David Aubry
