Steve Brown opened the meeting and announced that president Rachel was out of town and he was chairing the meeting.  Bob Webb led us with an inspirational moment..One thought was "we dare to tell the world how much we care.."

Guest were introduced. Jean Hernandez introduced Christie Olson a student from Cascadia Community College and provided an update on the Rotoract Club being formed at Cascadia. Things are moving along and they announced that UW Bothell campus will join the new Club.

Vincent Lucera a student from Lake Washington HS was also introduced.

Steve Brown announced that people really need to start selling tickets for the 2008 Duck Dash. A sign up list was provided at the tables with a kick off at Rovers 5-7 May 9th. It was announced that tickets are being printed now.

Katherine Kehrli reported on the Miracle League - baseball for handicapped children. She asked for volunteers to help with the games and said she was pleased with the help she has received in the past.

Dan Bartel was introduced to make presentations of the Outstanding Educator Awards. Carol Henrich a counselor from Kirkland was one of the award recipients. The other award winner was Diane Fennema  another counselor from Lake Washington High School. Both were complimented for their outstanding service their schools and the community. Steve Brown presented placks to each of them.  Patty Sims and Dan Bartel were recognized for their work in this area.

Patti Smith introduced Lucas Francothe recipient of The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship which he will use in Oslo, Norway over a 12 month period. Lucas made a presentation "Reflections of an Outbound Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship . He talked about his 3 month experience in Central America. The goal of the program was "Service above Self" or Social Justice. There are 8 - 9 Rotary Clubs in El Salvador and they really know their local communities. His goal for next year is to work with Rotary Clubs in Oslo, Norway and to continue to work in community development. He signed a book to be donated to Muir Elementary School

At the end of the meeting we sang happy birthday to Pascal our exchange student ...and Pascal "won" the drawing for his birthday present!
