WELL DONE: Patti Simms went from red to blue and stood with sponsor, Brad Green and mentor Rachel Knight.

Program:
Gayle Cudworth, Principal of Best HS and Rotary member, appropriately introduced the program which was an overview of Business Week at Best H.S. of which Kirkland Rotary took part. She introduced Jamie Walton, a teacher who has been at Best for only a year as promoting and spearheading the program. Four students each delivered a glimpse into one aspect of the Week.

Shawna Holstrom gave an overview of how the students were split into groups of approx. 13 people and mentored by a respected business member from the community such as a Boeing rep or Rotarian. Each group developed their own company that met numerous challenges though out the week.

Chaz Copeland, looking the part in his suit, introduced the financial aspect of running the company and how they would need to adjust numbers, for example, they were on the road to riches when they discovered their warehouse didn't hold the number they had planned on selling⿦back to the drawing board.

George Remirez, who currently works at Lee Johnson and aspires to be an architect, gave us an introduction to the project called Hunk of Junk. The teams all selected items from a junk pile and then had to construct a usable product and present it's attributes. Some products magically worked without electricity or engineering â¿¢ wouldn't that be nice!

Erin Michael introduced the Tradeshow project whereby the products that were produced were promoted to possible investors in a large auditorium forum as a real Tradeshow would take place. Erin learned how to come up with a pitch that would get the attention and pique the interest of the investor.

Gayle and Jamie felt the students learned invaluable lessons about commerce.

Chancellor was conducted at each individual table in which Felicity Burdick's table won by rounding up $180.

Honeypot: Patti Smith didn't get the $ but got a Starbucks card.

Meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm
