Rotary Club of Kirkland constructs playground at Rose Hill Meadows Park.

Rotary Club of Kirkland volunteers assisted the Kirkland Parks Department in constructing a Children’s Playground at Rose Hill Meadows Park on October 23, 2010.  Last year the City of Kirkland cut the Parks Dept budget and the public was asked to assist the Parks Dept wherever we could. Club members decided on this project and on a rainy Saturday, joined by staff from the Parks Department, completed a significant portion of the playground.

The Rotary Club of Kirkland has participated in several parks projects throughout the city including the picnic shelter at Everest Park.  Rotarian J. Donald Dicks said, “I have always enjoyed working outdoors and helping clean up some of our parks so thought that this would be a good way for our Rotary Club to continue to be involved with our community.”

A big THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered Saturday to assist the Parks Dept at Rose Hill Meadows Park.  And special thanks to Dan and WIlma Bartel for organizing lunch with assistance from Mary-Alyce's Rotary budget - those brats were super!  I think we all had a great time.  The worst part of the weather did manage to wait until we had finished.  And we did a lsignificant amount of work to help the Parks Dept folks with the heaviest part of putting the Children's Playground together.  I know they are very appreciative of our efforts.
