President Steve Brown opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m and thanked Don Dicks for greeting.  The flag salute was lead by Tom Sturgell .  The inspirational minute was given by Gary Bruner .  The message was in honor of Chuck Morgan who is in hospital.  Gary showed a copy of the old Bellevue American newspaper of which Chuck was a founding member.

Visitors/Guests:    David Tuang , Lake WashingtonHigh School Student of the Month.  He thanked us for the opportunity we have provided to him over the last month and outlined some of the important things he has learned from us.

Announcements:

District Conference   was attended by 11 members and a number of spouses.  President Steve accepted a Presidential citation for meeting his membership goal.  He announced that Kirkland Club won the award for the most innovative and sustaining project of all 55 district Clubs that was conducted on March 10th - Service above Self Day - we will be receiving lobster and salmon for our good work.

 

Transition Dinner  will be held on the 9th of July in the tent outside - please mark your calendars

 

Chuck Morgan   is in hospital and not up to his usual communicative self and still under the weather. Please call him on his direct line but refrain from visiting him until he is feeling better.  425-881-0591

 

Hard copy Directories   Tom Sturgell announced that he will be going to print so make sure you double check your contact details etc. and notify Tom if something needs to be changed

 

Miracle League Please sign up to be a buddy at one of the three games we are responsible to send buddies: May 5th, May 19th, and June 16th.  Need people to volunteer to bring snacks, healthy ones as well as sweets.  Contact Katherine Kehrli.

 

Duck Dash Kick-Off Party for May 1st at the Wilde Rover Irish Pub.  Everyone is invited (please respond to the evite or Cheryl Bloodworth ).  The party starts at 5:00 and plans to go to 7:00.  This is a great community and public relations exercise so please

come and help make it successful.  And Bob has new nifty duck dash info holders for members to place in a prominent position in their workplace to promote our good works.

 

4th of July Picnic  Please talk to Dianne Santeford about volunteering to work for a couple of hours on the 4th of co-chair an event.  We need more volunteers so the event is successful and boosts our Duck Dash dollars.

 

Golf Tournament on June 11th at Mt.Si.  If we can get 18 foursomes, we can have a shot gun" start, so please get your group together!  IMPORTANT:    We will be pre-paying for our rounds of golf and carts by June 4th, so that we do not have to collect the day of the event. 

 

  Bring a Friend to Rotary  on May 14th.  Please put the date on your calendar and plan to invite a friend, colleague, tennis buddy.now is your chance to invite someone that you have been meaning to for a while..! 

 

Artist Tour was dutifully announced by Don Dicks - a fun Kirkland event.

 

New member induction Miriam Gilbert was inducted into our Club tonight.  She moved here a couple of years ago from Arizona and most recently transferred from the Duvall Rotary Club to be closer to her son and two grandsons.  She was Intl Director at the Duvall Rotary Club and is a Paul Harris fellow. She is an Executive Coach.  Please welcome Miriam Gilbert as our newest member!

 

PROGRAM:

Our Speaker for the evening was Mike Stull, from Clari Sonic.

He introduced us to a new product called Clear Sonic that stimulates the facial skin and works similar to the Sonic Care toothbrush. 

 

The lucky ticket was Dianne Santeford , but she did not select the "blue" marble.  Her name will go in the "second chances" drawing. 

 

President Steve adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
