ANNOUNCEMENTS
President Rachel announced that the club survey results were now tabulated and available on each table.  Those that have leads for Patti Smith and the speaker program, please contact her.

She also announced that the Board would be making a presentation of October 1st in which they would be presenting a program on the budget and where our money is going this year. Rachel also read a nice note from Katherine and Tim Kherli, hosts of our new exchange student, Pascal Webber, and reminded the club of the welcome reception for Pascal this Wednesday evening (August 29) at 6:00 at the Auslanders.   Pascal will also be part of the program on Oct 1.

Steve B announced that he and GG had both purchased tables for the upcoming KPC auction, on September 30 at 4:00 pm at the Redmond Marriott, and hoped to fill them with Rotarians.   Several people have already responded to the note sent by Steve Shinstrom in this regard and they'll take interested people until the tables are filled.   Attendance will be no charge - but the rest of the evening won't be!

HAPPY DOLLARS
Chancellor Chuckles did his typical superiour job as the best Chancellor in the District, even extracting several packs of $2 bills from Oley from Ballard.   Seriously, his was a very kind gesture, giving away a pack of $2 bills to anyone who'd pledge at least $75 to the Foundation.   There were MANY takers!   Many thanks, Oley!   We also were regaled by another Oley/Sven story - using the real Oley!!

SPEAKER
Patty Smith introduced our speaker, John Marchione, representing the Board of the Cascade Water Alliance.   John is also a Redmond City Council member, a candidate for redmond Mayor, and CFO for the MeydenbauerCenter.   John is a native of the area and lives in Redmond with his wife and two children.

John presented a very informative program on water rights, sources, uses, plans for the future and the impact of growth.   It was once believed that population growth could be controlled by controlling water rights.   However, since the population of King County is expected to increase to over 1.3 million people by 2030, it's fortunate a few forward-thinking people created the Cascade Water Alliance, and have developed a plan to ensure water will be avalable for these people, using a new source, Lake Tapps to the south.   Following his presentation, he entertained several questions, after which President Rachel presented him with a book in his name for MuirSchool.   Thank you, John, for a great program!

DUCKY DRAWING
Patty Sims had the right number - but alas, did not pull the right duck out of the bag, so the pot increases.   Better luck next time, Patty!

ADJOURN
After reminding the club that there is NO MEETING NEXT WEEK DUE TO THE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY, President Rachel adjourned the meeting at 7:45 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
          Steve Brown, Scribe
