President Jim Feek called the meeting to order.

Dave Honeycutt led the Pledge of Allegiance.

There was no one schedule to give the Inspirational Moment. Jim asked the club to think of inspiring moments and to volunteer for future meetings.

Jim asked the club if any had read the latest Rotarian Magazine.  He then read an article "Is It The Truth" featuring a key figure in Rotary history, Herbert Taylor who is credited with creating the Four Way Test. Mr. Taylor said the Four Way Test came to him through prayer.

Jim thanked Roy for stepping in as a greeter as there was no greeter assigned.

Visitors:

Bob Auslander's guest, Carl Iverson is a Rotarian form Carmel, CA.  Carl presented the club with a flag form his club and we presented him with the Kirkland Rotary flag.

Dick Carlson from Lake Tahoe. Chris Rusnak, and former Kirkland Rotarian Cheryl Bloodworth was up from California. 

Announcments:

Brian Tucker shared that the Boy Scout Troop the club sponsors with eight 11-year-olds has a 16 year old Harry Patera that would like to partner with the club on a Leadership Project in the next couple of months.  Harry needs to complete this project to get a leadership Rank in Scouting.  Please let Brian know if anyone has interest in working with Harry on a Leadership Project.  Brain will send an email to the club.

Steve Shinstrom- Please sign up for Scribe or Greeter, sign up sheets being passed around.

John Overleese- We had 60 to 70 at the picnic last week.  Great turnout.  Gary Bruner and is wife cooked 100 lbs of ribs. Let's do it again next year!

August 10th is the Salmon Bake hosted by Bob and Caroline Norman's home.  We have just confirmed that we will have Line Caught Silvers- much better that net caught salmon. Please bring family, friends and prospective members.

Chris Rusnak presented Chuck Brockway with a book he created with photos from of this year's Miracle League baseball games.

Food Drive- we will start collecting once a month for the food drive, on the 2nd Monday of each month. We start next week at the Salmon Bake.

Felicity Burdick (International Chair) asked Chris and Elisabeth to stand and be recognized for donating 2 bicycles t hat will be shipped to Peru to impoverished children.

Felicity asked the club to pick something that we are passionate about, what international projects that we would like our club to support and she and Roy (assistant chair) will research them. She said that there is not a lot of money in the matching grants. She would like to get more club members involved, she and Roy need our help.  If you have traveled to a 3rd world country, heard a story that moves you, please share this. She invites any of us to come forward with ideas such as: clean water, literacy, food, wheel chairs, and youth.  Bring our ideas and Felicity and Roy will research them!

A discussion and vote was taken and their will be a lunch meeting brainstorming session regarding future International projects at Jim Feek's office at 11:30am on August 26th.  Catered lunch will be provided and Felicity will email out a menu.

Rich Bergdahl (Rotary Foundation Chair) presented the Paul Harris Fellow Awards to 5 club members:

Pat Swenson, John Overleese, Patti Smith, John Woodbury and Steve Shinstrom.  This was the 1st Paul Harris award for John Overleese and Patti Smith.

Program

Patti Smith introduced Mark Wilson and man of many titles including: Forensic Consultant, Licensed Private Investigator and Certified Fraud Examiner.

(Note: it was Bob Webb that was able to get the Power Point to work on the lap top!)

We now donate 50 lbs of food to First Harvest in the name of the speaker.
