Shirley Van Nostrand introduced Dr. Vince Mosca: Educated  at Duke and practiced in Toronto and now has been 13 years at Children's Hospital. He now focuses his research and practice on orthopedic and rehabilitative surgery for children with malformed feet. Children's formed a teaching relationship with Vietnamese pediatric orthopedic surgeons so they would be better prepared to address the needs of children in Vietnam.

Speaker introduced by Patti Smith: Andy Woppler, Puget Sound Energy. Andy presented a very thorough presentation about global warming, the pros and cons of various solutions, and the projects that PSE currently is engaged with in Washington. He addressed Hydro: basically tapped out in WA and expensive to maintain what we have, relatively;

Wind: The Wild Horse facility above Vantage on I-90 corridor has 149 turbines. Each Turbine can generate energy for 500 households. Each of the three blades are 129 feet long and are hollow fiberglass. The body or generator itself weighs 80 tons. Wind is a win-win situation for PSE, households, and farmers who are able to still cultivate acreage beneath the turbines;

Solar: oddly enough our NW cool weather is more energy efficient than hot weather of CA. Compared to Wind, Solar farms take up a lot more acreage.

Biomass: PSE has had some success with a Diary Farm and will install the second generator. Win-win for neighbors who live down wind from the farm as the manure is processed in enclosed generator and great for farmer who used to have to pay to have the manure hauled away.

Andy ended by saying, turn off a few of the appliances around your house that you don't use regularily - every little bit helps.

Ticket:  David DeBois guessed the correct number and hit the town with $15!
