Vernell Sutherland gave her classification talk.  Vernell has roots in Minnesota, but has lived everywhere from Texas to Hawaii, coming to us most recently from Carmel, CA.  She and her husband, Duncan, currently work in the field of organic skin products.

Joanne reminded us all of the District Conference in Whistler, April 21 through 23rd.

This was a special "Getting to Know You" night at Rotary, with 4 Rotarians sharing their histories, both professional and personal.  We learned much from Steve Shinstrom who joined his family business in 1992 and has a long legacy of Rotary in his family.  Rich Bergdahl grew up in Sacramento and currently works with his wife, Nannette, in the real estate industry.  Dennis Newell aspires to be part of Costo, working in their corporation Community Relations department, where he feels a sense of shared values.  G.G. Getz comes from Iowa, moving to Seattle in l968, and becoming a part of the community through her profession in real estate and her community board activities.

Dwight Olson introduced our speaker for the evening, Scott Jackson.  Scott is a Rotarian with Seattle 4 and currently works for PATH, Program for Appropriate Technology and Health.  Prior to that Scott worked for World Vision.  Scott said that he felt that 2005 was the Super Bowl year for global health and development.  He shared some of the struggles from his personal history and how the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship program had had a profound impact on his life and subsequent career choices.  He said that one of the punctuation marks in his life was the time spent with Bono, who is part of the Voice of One Campaign, and ended with the remark that he felt that Rotary is one of the significant movements of mankind.

The Honeypot was won by our guest, Rock Roth, who donated his winnings to the Foundation.

The meeting was dismissed at 7:50 pm.

Respectfully submitted:  Pat Dye
