Program Speaker: Gaguik Khachatourian

Program Topic: The Medical Home Model: Patient Centered Care

Gaguik is an Administrative Director at Group Health Cooperative and graduated from Gonzaga University.  An experienced leader with a successful record of achievement in the health care operations and primary care delivery systems. A positive, energetic leader with a deep understanding of Medical Home and LEAN in health care systems.

About the program:

The Medical Home concept has been around since 1968. It’s basically a closer relationship between the doctor and patient. Physicians now have fewer patients to care for, freeing up time to interact with their patients. Another change is the way patients interact with their health care teams. Under the new system, every effort is made to meet patients in the forum that works best for them: in-person appointments, e-mails, or telephone calls. Doctors also have time built into their day to talk to patients on the phone and answer e-mail.

A short video was shown on the concept and mock-up of a warehouse in development in the remarkable improvements being made with Group Health and their Medical Home Model. The entire country watches firsthand how Group Health’s leadership, commitment, and will are paving the way to a better doctor/patient relationship.

Lucky Ticket Drawing led by Rick Walter.  The winning ticket number was held by:

Scott Becker. Unfortunately Scott was not the winner of the joker pot.  Estimated ticket sales in the pot: are $1653.00.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
