Let Rachel know why this group should receive the money.

Program

Pam Hurst,a student at Cascadia College is one of last year's Rotary Scholarship recipients gave us an update. In the last quarter at Cascadia College she has received Faculty Honors and a 4.0 GPA!  She read an open thank you letter to the club.

Happy Dollars were collected for the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.  A total of $1,074 was donated!

Rich Bergdahl, International Foundation Chair, spoke to the club.  He said that on February 23rd Rotary would be 105 years old!  There are 1.3 million members and 33,000 clubs worldwide.  Rich's goal is to get 100% participation from club members in donations during Jim Feek's year as club President. Our club has 74 members and currently 20 members have made donations for this year. Rich wants to collect the donation by March 15th!  Last year during Bob Webb's term as president we only had 75% participation.  We have collected $2,500 but during Happy Dollars Bill Taylor donated another $500 towards the Foundation, so we are now up to $3,000 for Rotary International.  Thank you Bill for your generous support!

Mary-Alyce Burleigh introduced our speaker for the evening Doug Wozeniak, Executive Director of the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club. He gave us some history of the Boys and Girls club (they only changed the name from Boys Club to Boys & Girls Club in 1990!) and how much service they provide to our community.  He then talked about the Legacy Project that the Club is sponsoring which is the expansion of the Teen Room.  It is expanding from 500 square feet to 1,400-1,500 square feet!
