The January 26, 2009 Kirkland Rotary Meeting started at 6:30 with President Bob Webb at the helm.  Scott Rethke who is a guest led the Pledge of Allegiance.  There was no inspirational moment.  Introductions of the following guests were made by each table; Kirkland Downtown Assoc (name ???? GG's guest).

Pascal talked about his ski trips, Joanne introducted Scott Rethke, Brett Johnson introduced Mike Jackson and Pat Dye introduced our guests from Harborview Medical Center; Dr. Bill Fallon, President of the Board, Bernie Dochnahi, trustee from Renton, Lisa Jensen, trustee and Newcastle City council member.  Our speaker for the night was Cindy Hecker, Chief Nursing Officer and Sr. Assoc for Patient Care Operations at Harborview.  She was assisted in her presentation by Margi Wadden.

Announcements:  Bob talked about Chuck Morgan moving to Wenatchee on Monday and about his going away party on Sunday, Feb 1 at Heritage Hall in Kirkland.  Rick, Jim and Bob made a presentation to Chuck making Chuck a 2 Star Paul Harris Fellow.  Chuck got a standing ovation and he will also get a certificate making him a lifetime member of the club.

Rick did his presentation regarding the work of the foundation asking for more members and asked member's to donate and he is looking for 100% participation by the time of the district meeting.  You can now designate your donation to go to either Polio Plus due to a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation or you can designate Paul Harris Fellow.  Rick talked about even though we didn't have an inspiration moment that he was very touched this year by the miracle of no loss of life during the crash of the jet in the Hudson river and by Obama's Inauguration.

Bob talked about the game night this coming Saturday, about 30 people have signed up; asked people to sign-up for the Valentine's dinner.

John Overleese talked about the scholarship program and how wonderful it is to interview and work with the students.

Dan reminded us about the February 14th work party at First Harvest in Kent.

Chancellor of the day Chuck did Happy Dollars and the money will be split between Polio Plus and Chuck's 2nd sapphire.   Many words of gratitude and thanks to Chuck.

Pat Dye introduced our speaker from Harborview and then Bob had her sign a book for Muir Elementary.  

Drawing was done - Makonin had the winning ticket but missed on the duck pull.
