Welcome back everyone.  Hope you all had a Happy New Year.  The meeting was called to order by Vice President Rachel Knight at 6:25pm.  Jack Danforth led the flag salute.  Mike Hunter provided an Inspirational Moment by relating to a very inspirational person in his life, Evelyn Nicholsen (sp?), his Mother-in-Law.  She lost her husband in 1964, yet remains young in being very involved in her computer and family.  A surprise birthday party was recently planned, with 48 attending at Mike's house.  The ultimate surprise was Mike's son and grandson who had flown in from TN.  They were hiding in the house when Evelyn received a call from them, to which she commented "Wish you were here".....to her surprise they walked out and gave her the ultimate birthday surprise

Chuck & Dave did a great job of collecting happy dollars.  Sharon Chambers contributed $20 to announced that Residence 12 has closed on the four pieces of property immediately next to their property, but more importantly has hired our own Pat Dye!  Most were happy about good holidays, good start to New Year, while others expressed disappointment in Seahawks.  Bill Taylor reported 23 family members at dinner and culminating in dancing in the street.  Harry Cummings topped Bill with 33 for dinner.  Tom Sturgell, WILL BE HAPPY, when the tarp is off his home due to the winter storm.  Pat Swenson tantalized us all with her wonderful experiences in Paris, London and New York.

The program for the evening was "Getting to Know You".  Bill Taylor was first up.  Bill has been a member since April 1986.  His Occupation Class is Metal Fabrication.  In this occupation Bill has performed as Engineer, Sales, and Management.  His degree in BSME was obtained in 1966.  Bill lasted one week at Boeing, before moving on to Metal Fabrication in Ballard.  Ten years later he became the owner of the company, with 70-100 employees.  The companies function is to produce any metal fabrication - sooner than later, impossible to do, and ultimately challenging.  In 1997 Bill decided to retire, and actually went to work elsewhere.  He returned to his company in Mt. Vernon, where he continues to work and manage, his first account has now been with him for 39 years.  Personally Bill was born in Portland, OR in 1943.  His family has been in Kirkland since 1909.  In 1964 he married his wife Sandy.  They have 2 children, Jeff & Shelly and grandchildren.  Bill likes to golf, sightsee and go for trips in the motorhome.  Why did Bill join Rotary?  In 1966, his Uncle Dick asked him to attend a meeting, and 20 years later he did.  Bill runs his business by the "Rotary 4 Way Test".  He loves the fellowship, family and friends of Rotary.  His best Rotary involvement has been the past two years as Assistant Govenor.

Jerry Campo (Dr.), is a dentist at his Juanita office.  Jerry graduated in 1983 from the Univ of WA Dental School and immediately went to work in Switzerland, which afforded him the ability to travel Europe.  He returned in 1985 to Santa Clara, CA.  He and his wife Madeline moved to Seattle in 1988.  He started his private practice in Feb 1993.  Dick Weston introduced Jerry to Rotary and he was President of Rotary Club of Kirkland from 1998-99.  Jerry has experienced dentistry evolving into many changes, including improved techniques and patient awareness.  Personally, he and Madeline love to travel.  Turning 50 this year, they are going to Costa Rica.  This past September they enjoyed the NW Coast of Ireland.  His father lives in Boise and Madeline's family is in Palm Springs.  His hobbies are golf, but his love is running marathons.  He's participated in the Boston Marathon twice.  The reason Jerry joined Rotary was to get involved with people in the community, and he's still here 14 years later.

Dennis Newell won the $30 Blue Marble.  Jerry Marsh won the Chocolate Santa.
