Kirkland Rotary minutes 7-16-12

·         Patty called the July 16, 2012 Kirkland Rotary Club meeting to order 6:25pm.  She introduced a former Kirkland Rotary exchange student from 2001, Ronia, who is in town until the end of July.  Greetings given from many Rotarians who fondly recall Ronia as one of the most engaging students.

·         Scott introduced his guest, Sarah Critchfield, who specializes in reverse mortgages in Juanita and Kirkland.

·         Joanne introduced a visiting guest from Maui, Cindy Wheldon.

·         Gary introduced Chris Gurrell, a retired machinist who is interested in learning more about Rotary.

·         Tim introduced his guest, Dr. Brian Wendell, a plastic surgeon with Peak Aesthetics, who is interested in joining Kirkland Rotary.

·         Bob Webb passed out the Duck Dash volunteer sign-up sheet.

·         Cynthia discussed the Guatamalan clef palate initiative.

·         Next Monday, July 23rd, Kirkland Rotary will meet in Everest Park with a 5 dollar charge per person that evening.

·         Bill Woods and Chuck Brockway facilitated Good News dollars.

·         Our speaker, Melissa Covelli, Director of Public Policy for the Gates Foundation, delivered our keynote presentation on initiatives local, international and national.
