It was "Luau by the Lake"... Transition dinner time for Kirkland Rotary. That crazy Sgt. at Arms Steve cooked up one fine evening in the weather category as he had promised departing President Steve Brown. With almost 100 members and guest in attendance and dressed in their best Hawaiian attire, no one could have scripted a more enjoyable evening or setting.
President Steve gave his year in review by going over the highlights month by month. I will spare the club the entire list as it moved so fast I didn't have time to write.
Each of his board members came up and gave various awards and thanked all their committee members. P resident Steve gave each of his board members a very nice thank you gift along with five distinguished service awards to various members:
- Chuck Brockway - for work as chancellor and his behind the scenes work on the scholarship committee.
- Bob Webb - for his tireless work on the Duck Dash
- Rachel Knight - for her support and incredible help throughout the year.
- Diane Santeford - for the 4th of July Picnic
- Steve Shinstrom - for his work as Sgt. at Arms and help to Steve B throughout the year.
Pat Swenson was awarded Rotarian of the Year for everything she did and continues to do for our club. Congratulations Pat!!!.
Final event of the evening was the passing of the gavel from all the old presidents to our new president Rachel Knight. Rachel took over and introduced her new board and our wonderful Luau by the Lake came to an end. Scribe for an evening Steve
