This was our first year with Miracle League and we loved it. Thank you to all your staff and volunteers that made Liam smile and have fun. To see a boy who is non-verbal get so excited to put on his uniform and then say the words "happy" and "fun". It was a highlight!  He took his trophy to bed with him the first night and showed to everyone since. Thank you, again.

I know it is sponsored by the Rotary. Is there a contact we could send a thank you note to??

Thank you so much,

Tiffany Sutton

·         Patti announced there will not be a Board meeting on Wednesday.

·         Bill Taylor asked members to sign up for the Transition Dinner on June 24. Sixty four of us have signed up so far.

Duck Dash Kick Off:

John Pruitt (Our Head Duck) kicked off the 16th Annual Duck Dash by thanking all those who’ve made this year one of the most exciting yet.

Scott read the names of our sponsors and thanked them for their many years of support.  A total of $20,500 has been donated by our wonderful sponsors.  Check out your tickets for their names.

Dave briefed us on the coupons at the end of each ticket.  Over $100 worth of coupons are available, a great selling point.

Scott went over the prizes this year in brief, five $1,000 prizes, $500 to get in shape at Sound Fitness, overnight at the Woodmark Hotel, a photo session with your pet thanks to Chris Rusnak, and on and on (check your tickets for the exact list).

Patti explained the story of “Ducky” and his “Adventures in Kirkland” with many of our sponsors.  “Ducky” is on a Facebook page and a link to the page from our Rotary website should be available soon.

Bill Woods presented John with a small “Ducky” that apparently will grow to 600 times its size (by adding water, I think).

Some of our members, who were there at the inception (Brian, Tom, Rick, Mike, Gary and Bill Taylor) 16 years ago, gave their thoughts on the beginning of the Duck Dash.

Pat & Tom, Jason & Scott, Bill & Bob, and Eric & John gave us demonstrations on how to sell Duck Adoptions.

Joanne passed out yellow sheets that list six (6) teams for selling Duck Adoptions.  The highest selling team will win prizes!  Check out your team and start selling.  Venues have been set for QFC, Wednesday Market, Red Apple and now even Fred Meyer (thanks, Jason).  Selling Duck Adoptions allows you to get to know fellow members better, enhances the opportunity to find new members (there are extra points for having a potential new member attend a meeting), and puts a ‘face’ on Rotary for the people of Kirkland.

The Lake Washington Drill Team did a fantastic job of decorating six big Ducks!  Members voted on the “Best Dressed Duck” and Brandon announced that Duck #1 won the Best Dressed prize of a $15 Starbucks card.  Duck #1 was beautifully dressed by Emily!  The other members from the Drill Team received $5 Starbucks cards.  The Best Dressed Ducks will be used at the Drill Team’s venues.  The Drill Team receives 2/3 of the Duck Adoptions sold, so the Duck Dash has been an excellent fund raiser for them.Image

John thanked the many people involved in the Duck Dash and tonight’s festivities, especially to Alice for the beautiful table decorations, and said that one of the most important things to do during Duck Dash Days is have “FUN!”
