Monday, March 9, 2016 Meeting – Version 2
President Rich Bergdahl called the meeting to order at 6:35 PM.  Nick Jones from the Downtown Club led us in the Pledge.
Brian Tucker read quotes from Warren Buffett as our inspiration for the evening.

Announcements:
  • Patti Smith had pictures of the foundation for the Waverly picnic shelter that we’ve helped fund.  Our picnic this summer will be at the new picnic shelter.
  • President Rich said last week’s meeting at the Flat Iron Pub was a success.  The meeting was with the Downtown Club and 868 lbs. of food were collected and delivered to Hopelink
  • President Rich is sponsoring a round of golf in Coeur d’Alene at the District Conference.  He also needs two delegates so will be talking to other members who are attending.
  • A work day at Northwest Harvest in Kent will be this Saturday, March 12th.  Meet at 8 AM at the Houghton Park & Ride to carpool.
  • Eric Olsen’s wife, Terry, is recovering well from her recent surgery
  • President Rich announced the passing of Sandy Ekins’ son, Randy, this past week
Banner Exchange
Sudhanshu Gore, from the R C Pune South Rotary Club in India exchanged banners with President Rich and then gave an overview of his Club and its endeavors to help the people of India and Africa.  There are 100 Rotary Clubs in his city of 100 million people.  The Club has 85 to 100 members and it undertakes several efforts though out the year to help others.
Program
President Rich introduced Sigi Schmid, the coach of the Sounders soccer team.  Sigi is a wonderful speaker and he told us how people helped him get started in his career.  His insights on the current team were very entertaining.
Thanks for a great program, Sigi.  Please come again later in the season!
Adjournment
President Rich told us a story about Nancy Reagan, who passed away this week, and how politics were more civil in the “old days.”
