G.G. Getz introduced 'Educator of the Year' Matt Manobianco from the Lake Washington School District.  She outlined his many contributions to the success of the school system.  He is currently the Director of Curriculum at LWSD.

Patty Smith introduced our speaker for the evening, Kirkland Rotary's own Pat Dye.

Pat educated us about early intervention (birth to 3 years) for children with disabilities at Wonderland Development Center where she is currently working as a fund raiser.  We learned that working with such children as soon as possible allows about one in five of these children to be mainstreamed, and produces very positive effects in many of the other children.  The Center serves primarily Seattle, NW King County, and SW Snohomish County.  There is more demand than there are currently resources available at Wonderland, so Pat will be working to increase those resources, both financial and staff.

President Joanne announced that we would be donating a children's book to the John Muir Elementary Library in Ms. Dye's honor, after she autographed the volume, as a thank-you for speaking to us tonight.

Dwight Olson had the lucky ticket but did not draw the card with the $ attached

President Joanne adjourned the meeting at 7:30PM.

Respectfully submitted,

David Aubry, Acting Scribe
