The November 11, 1013 Rotary Club of Kirkland meeting was called to order at 6:30 by President Scott Rethke.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Bob Webb. Ernie led us in an “inspirational” moment.

Pat inrtoduced the student of the month, Haleigh Manao – part of the Cambridge program at Juanita High School.

Announcements:

1.       12/8 – Holiday Party – Royal Argosy in Seattle. Boarding is at 5:30pm, and will end at 8:30pm. Cost is $79 per person. Two options for transport…Eric Olsen can provide a bus or van for

          approximately  6-7 couples OR a coach bus for $30/couple. Both will use the city hall as a park and ride spot. The second option is to use Elliots valet services for carpools.

2.      Toys for Tots – “thumbs up” vote.

3.      DEC. 2nd – Seahawks party – bring your spouse and new membership

4.      Steve Shinstrom – “Partners for Work” vote for Deborah Moore initiative. We would have one special needs person for a greeter and support role for our club.

 

Special Presentation- Veterans Day

      James Nevers spoke of his involvement with the Army National Guard, and his role as a logistics officer. James has lived in NM,  Texas, Oklahoma, and WA. His role is to provide logistics support for the fixed and rotary wing aircraft that can be deployed domestically and internationally. Very special “Thank you” for his service.

Rick Walter – Happy Dollars – Raised $315 for “wreaths across America”

Scott Becker – DUCK DASH KICKOFF! First meeting at 5:15pm on 11/18 to begin discussion of leadership committees. Aug. 10th is the official race day for 2014.

Scott Becker had his lucky ticket drawn and let Student of the Month Haleigh draw for the Joker but alas no such luck.
