The meeting of Kirkland Rotary on November 28, 2005, with Joanne Primavera presiding, commenced at 6:30 PM.

Harry Cummings led the Pledge of Allegiance and Joanne's Inspirational Moment was to remind all of us that destiny is in our hands, that we should focus attention on others during this Holiday Season, keep an open mind and to turn off your cell phones during Rotary meetings. Thanks to our Greeter, Chuck Morgan, and to Rick and Steve for manning the front desk. Geoff Owen, Community Banking, from Mill Creek was our only visiting Rotarian. He was present because his family is Vlad's new host family. Guest introductions were made: D.V. Hurst introduced Darrell Hobson, John Woodburry introduced his wife Dee and George McAfee introduced his "very patient" wife Trish, who has cared for him during his recovery after a knee replacement. We all signed a get well card to Sinclair due to his broken hip.

Our exchange student, Vlad Koposov, talked about his past week and his experience of spending a cold and rainy day shopping with Joanne the day after Thanksgiving. He said that he didn't mind, since she bought him a whole new ensemble to wear. He also said that he made the basketball team and was looking for sponsors to place ads in their programs. Any takers? The activity list for Vlad, including all contact information, can be found on the Club Runner web site.

This was the last visit from our student of the month, Jenny Serrato. With her were her parents, Beatriz and Terry Serrato. She thanked all of us for the opportunity to be student of the month and for being exposed to the ways in which Rotarians help others. She also thanked her parents, whom she referred to as "Her tutors for life". She was born and raised in Venezuela and her parents and brothers, in Columbia.

Gary Schuster inducted two new members, Vernell Sutherlund and Diane Santeford. Vernell is married to Duncan Sutherlund, who was inducted earlier in the month. Her sponsor was her husband, Gary Bruner will mentor and she will be loaned the classification of Clinical Skin Care Management. Diane was sponsored by GG Getz, Patti Smith will mentor, and she will be loaned the classification of Import Consulting. Diane is also a former member of the Carmel club, in California.

PROGRAM

Our speaker was Brian Mistele, who is a former "Microsoftie" and currently is with Imerex (sp).

He told us that his hobby, or "obsession", is completing flow charts and graphs outlining his research of prophecies foretold in the Old Testament. The title of his talk was "The Truth about prophecy in the Bible and the historical accuracy of the Old Testament".

He continued, telling us of his amazement of there being 500 specific prophecies one can track using secular sources, such as AOL, publications, etc., that were made approximately 2,500 years ago. One such prophecy he explained, was that of God's Covenant with Isreal. When Moses came down from the mountain to tell the Jews that they were God's Chosen and that, as long as they followed his covenant, they would live under his watch and be safe. But when Moses saw that they were worshiping an "Idle God' made of gold, he trudged back up the mountain and told God that it was too late. So God sent him back with a new covenant saying, that they would need to clean up their act and follow his word. And, if they did so, would be his chosen people⿦ "However", should they decide to continue on with their ways, they would suffer 7 times over. If they did not learn from that, they would suffer seven times over, etc, etc, etc..

Their plight matches those prophecies, to the precise day in history, as they were foretold.
