President Patti called the meeting to order (or as best as this group can be!) at 6:32pm

Jason Overleese led us in the Pledge of Allegiance

Bob Webb was our Greeter

Visitors were Scott East (Family Law) from the Bellevue Downtown Club and Dr. Sudhir Calla, Assistant Governor from District 3050, New Delhi, India.

Guests were Sandy Taylor (Bill’s longtime girlfriend and wife), and Thomas Lewis, our Student of the Month, from Juanita High School.

Ernie Norehad delivered some thought provoking inspiration, in a little bit more than a moment!

 ANNOUNCEMENTS:

· December 13 & 19 are gift wrapping dates for the Club at Barnes & Noble’s Bellevue store. Donations we receive from the gift wrapping are for the Club to retain and put back into purchasing books for John Muir Elementary School. Pat Swenson is organizing. Watch for more info from her via email and at meetings.

· Salvation Army Bell Ringing will start soon. Neil Johnson volunteered during the meeting to get us organized and in contact with the Salvation Army. Stay tuned…Thanks, Neil!

· Anne Hamilton announced that we will be working with the Nourishing Network to assist John Muir Elementary families for the Thanksgiving Holiday week so they can replace meals not provided by the school while its closed. Anne will send out an email with more info.

· Bob Webb led us in singing Happy Birthday to Anne Hamilton, PDG Don Gregory, and Gary Redfern. Happy 29th everyone!

· Jerry Campo reminded us that the Holiday Party will be on December 2 at Lucia Restaurant in Parkplace Center, starting at 6pm. Mark your calendars, and more info will be forthcoming.

Don Dicks began our first Program of Foundation Month (November) by congratulating us on last year’s 78% participation rate, and this year’s ~10% rate even though we’re only into the Rotary year for 4 months. Well done! The Club has a matching program for donations made by November 30 to The Rotary Foundation. If you give $100, the Club will match it and you’ll get 2X credit toward a Paul Harris Fellowship!

Don then introduced Past District Governor Don Gregory as our speaker for the evening. PDG Don walked us through the many dreams he has for the world, and how The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is a key to making them come true. TRF has begun a Future Vision which emphasizes work in 6 areas:

Areas of focus

1. Peace and conflict prevention/resolution

2. Disease prevention and treatment

3. Water and sanitation

4. Maternal and child health

5. Basic education and literacy

6. Economic and community development

Don and Don awarded Bill Taylor with a 2 ruby Paul Harris Pin, signifying Bill’s 8th PH Fellowship. They and Bill then awarded Sandy Taylor with her 6th PH Fellowship, courtesy of Bill. Congratulations, and Thank You, to Bill and Sandy!

With a significant jackpot waiting, Rick Walter and Jim Going had our visitor from India draw tonight’s ticket. As it came up blue, 2/3 of the room groaned and immediately called for an investigation into the political motivations of allowing blue tickets. The Chief stepped in to restore order, but even with 5 shots of rubber bullets fired, the grumbling continued….somewhere a drum rolled, the Monday Morning Quarterback stopped typing his weekly musings about how unfair Pac-12 referees can be to the poor Pups of Montlake, and Mr. John Pruitt declared HE held the hanging chad! Further cries of “Noonan!” arced across the room, but to no avail! Mr. Pruitt has ended our 52 week run of luck, and he drew the Joker!! The check’s in the mail.

President Patti gonged the bell at 7:28 pm before Rick could find John’s Happy Dollars. He can run, but he can’t hide…

Scribefully yours,   Brian Tucker
