ImageThe Kirkland Rotary Club meeting of October 1, 2012 began at 6:30 p.m. and was led by Past-President, Pat Dye.   Chris Morgan led the Pledge.

Don Dicks honored the following with Paul Harris Fellow pins:  Anne Hamilton, plus one sapphire; Gary Redfern, plus two sapphires; Vickie Cooley, plus three sapphires.  Congratulations all.

Announcements:  Happy Birthday to three Halloween babies:  DV Hurst; Ernie Norehad, and Bill Woods.

The warm coats were distributed at John Muir Elementary on October 5, 2012.

Steve Shinstrom needs scribes and greeters.

The Bunco party will be October 20 at the Shinstrom’s at 6:00 p.m.  Wear an ugly sweater and bring food on a stick.

Pat Swenson is starting the Reading Buddies program at John Muir for 3rd to 5th graders the first of November.  Each book should take about six weeks.  The Reading Buddies will all be held at noon this year, but you can choose your day.  There is also a need for Math Buddies at either 11:30, noon or 12:30 p.m.
Program:  Dr. Chuck Pilcher talked about the conflicting zoning laws that led to the controversy about Potala Village, which is proposed to be built at 10th and Lake Street. 

Bill Woods and crew purchased the lucky ticket for joker pool and everyone applauded when he didn’t win.  Next week the pot will be around $7,000.  Don’t forget, you can win one-half the pot and the other half goes to the club.
