Induction of New Member

President-Elect Brandon Honcoop inducted Tim Kehrli into Kirkland Rotary. Kehrli's sponsor is Brian Tucker and his mentor is Bill Taylor. Tim's field is "Energy Management." Because Tim has already attended so many Rotarian events, President Dye warmly welcomed Tim into the Club as a "new" member.

Recognition of Paul Harris Fellows

Don Dicks presented a Paul Harris two-sapphire pin to Bob Webb for his contributions, and a certificate, a pin and ribbon to Marilee Dicks for being a first-time Paul Harris Fellow. President Dye presented Don Dicks with a "plus two" sapphire pin for his continuing support of the Rotary Foundation.

"Happy Dollars "

Chuck Brockway collected "Happy Dollars," and because so many Club members laughed and participated, Stephanie King (Student of the Month) stated "the Club members exceeded her expectations" and that she was having a good time as she was initially nervous about coming.

Program

October is Rotary Vocational Month so Jim Going, Vocational Chair, introduced two speakers. First Makaylaa Powers discussed the extensive number of individuals aged 65 years and older who will need some kind of eldercare. She mentioned that the sheer numbers of elderly will be an overwhelming burden to the healthcare system. She then explained her company "Visiting Angels" which has 75 employees and provides non-medical home care to clients mostly in their 80s or 90s. The care can be from a few hours to a live-in 24-hour care.

Second speaker was Elisabeth Rusnak who presented information on her career working for the Northwest Business Development Association. She primarily helps for-profit business obtain funding under the SBA 504 Loan program. This program assists businesses in purchasing commercial real estate. Recent passage of the "Jobs" bill has increased funding limits.

Joker Pool

Joker Pool is up to $350. The joker was not selected so next week's pool will be higher.
