Val Gurin greeted all at the door with a heartfelt smile and genuine handshake upon entering the the October 2nd meeting of the Rotary Club of Kirkland.

President Steve Brown called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with a ring of the bell.

District Governor (and the evening's Speaker) Mike Montgomery led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Brian Tucker, just back from five relaxing days with Heidi on Kauai, inspired us with some words of inspiration they obtained from a t-shirt in beach bar on the island.  Known as "Kimo's Rules," the ten bullet points of wisdom therein (I couldn't write fast enough to get them all down) reminded us of just how to get the most out of life by focusing on and appreciating the simplest things in life.  How true.the older I get, the more completely I understand how the simplest things in life truly are the greatest things in life.
