September 15, 2014 Spokesman

 
President John started the Rotary Club of Kirkland meeting at 6:30.  He thanked Dan Bartel for Greeting and since there was no scribe thanked me for doing the honors.  I am an editor not writer so this will be short and sweet.
 
A special THANKS to Rich & Nan Bergdahl for opening their newly remodeled home for the annual Salmon Bake last Monday evening.  A great time was has by all and thank you to all the volunteers for cooking, bar tending, setting up etc.

Announcements:
  • Steve Shinstrom needs scribes and greeters and only has those now filled until Oct 13 meeting.
  • Bunco/Bunko:  Oct 11th at Shinstroms starting around 6:00pm.  Theme this year is everything “12”.  Use your creativity when it come to food and clothing...  It will be heavy appetizers and desserts as usual and sign up sheet is going out shortly.
  • Rotary First Harvest is the same morning Oct 11th and carpooling etc will be again happening from the Houghton P&R.  More info to follow as we get closer.
  • Patti Smith announced the KITH fundraiser/auction on Oct 4th at the Bellevue Red Lion.  She is hoping to have a full Rotary table or more.  Cost is $125 per person.  Contact Patti.
  • District Conference is May 15-17 2015 and right in our back yard up at Tulalip Resort and Casino.  Here is an easy way to attend your first conference as it is so close to home.
Rick Walter then worked the room for Happy Dollars as it had been almost 2 months and there was a lot of happy Rotarians.
 
District Governor John Enger gave a nice talk on his transformation from a “Rotarian” to a “Rotarian” and how he became more involved after working a project in Kenya.  He went over many points on what the district does for clubs and how everyone can get more involved.  We as a club then reviewed what we have done by committee in a power point presentation.
 
Joker Pool.  We are at about ½ of a deck left and John Pruitt had his lucky ticket drawn but alas didn’t with the pool.
