Program:

Katherine Comeau is a counselor at the International Community School, which is located east of BEST High.  The International School is for children grades 7-12 who wish to study and learn.  They have at least two hours of homework each night.  Students have to live in the Lake Washington School District and of the more than 200 students who apply, 60-80 get in each year by a lottery system.  All students take a social studies/humanities/art block in which they study one part of the world as it relates to all three areas.  The students also have to take math, science and Spanish.  There are no sports or PE or music.  These activities are all done after school.  Each year, all but one of the graduates goes on to college, from Bellevue Comm. College to Harvard.  The student who does not go to college that year, will eventually go.  Parents have to volunteer thirty hours at the school each year.

Bob Auslander successfully bought the lucky ticket for the honeypot but unsuccessfully drew the wrong color marble.  Bob and all the other losers will be eligible for entrance in the 'second chance' club - to be determined at another time.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:48   P.M.
