Kirkland Rotary Diversity Leadership Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by Drs. Gary and Susan Cohn for a student of color who demonstrates diversity-related leadership in school and community.  The scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000 to be added to one of the Kirkland Rotary Scholarships.  One “Kirkland Rotary Diversity Leadership Scholarship” may be awarded in 2023.  The eligibility criteria are:
  • Financial need (demonstrated through a valid USED Student Aid Report [SAR], or written statement declaring financial need);
  • Academic promise (demonstrated through the transcript and letter of recommendation);
  • Record of school or community service, especially leadership, and promise of societal contribution (demonstrated through the essay and letter of recommendation);
  • Self-identified during high school as a member of one or more minority groups (i.e., Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, or American Indian/Alaska Native descent);
  • Currently enrolled as a senior at the Lake Washington School District’s Lake Washington High School or Juanita High School;
  • Selection for a Kirkland Rotary Scholarship award during the 2023 cycle; and
  • Plans to attend an accredited higher education institution in the United States.
