Lake Washington High SchoolMaria Strathy is a hardworking student who enjoys running, music, reading, and spending time with her friends. At school, her favorite classes have been calculus and chemistry. After graduating, she hopes to attend Columbia University and major in chemical engineering or applied mathematics. The year of online school was emotionally difficult for her, but she turned to God, her friends, and nature for support. Maria loves her school and all the activities she is involved in there. She is an active member of DECA, having participated in four different competitive events during her junior year, including competing at state in the Team Financial Services role play event. The primary way Maria serves her community is in her role as LWHS ASB treasurer, which she has been since junior year, and cross-country team captain. As treasurer and a member of the Leadership class, she approves purchases and helps plan events to support the student body. As cross country captain, she assists coaches in communication, contributes to a positive team culture, and supports all her teammates.
